New England Wins the 2016 Addie Cup!


New England was very successful in the two day Addie Cup competition completed June 2 at Longwood.  The NE team won 17-2 over the Middle States in the semifinals, and prevailed 13-6 against the Eastern States in the finals. 

The Addie Cup competition began in 1981 at Kenwood Club in the Middle Atlantic section.  It involved top ranked women 40+ in the four East Coast sections of the USTA as a regional elite competition for those graduating from Sears Cup.  The trophy was donated by Robert Addie, husband of Pauline Betz Addie who was a winner of six Grand Slam titles and a 1965 inductee in the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

NE has won the Addie Cup championship for 9 of the past 10 years.  Molly Hahn is the captain.
